Origins of Popcorn for Patriots
In 2008 45 Scouting Units and 200 Scouts participated in securing sponsorships of popcorn from community members for Iowa soldiers serving in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Each bag sent had a message of support attached and additional notes of encouragement and appreciation from Scouting Units and community members were enclosed in each box.
A total of 992 containers of cheese popcorn were sent to 11 APO addresses and our soldiers were encouraged to communicate responses back to the Scouts through e-mail. Read soldier's responses

Your donation of $17 per package of cheesecorn will send a yummy package of Wisconsin made Boy Scouts Cheesecorn to a solider stationed overseas. A $1 handling fee is included which covers credit card processing fees and postage for a thank you card. Please help our scouts and our brave men and women serving overseas!
